Adobe today has officially announced the new Adobe Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC. With the release of new Lightroom Classic CC, it means there will be no Lightroom 7 and no standalone version now. The old Lightroom 6 is the last standalone version of Lightroom that can be purchased outside of a Creative Cloud membership. Lightroom 6 will remain for sale for an undetermined amount of time, but will no longer be updated with camera support or bug fixes after the end of 2017.

The difference between Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC are below:

Lightroom CC on desktop comprises a similar experience, in terms of look and functionality, to the web and mobile versions. If you’ve used Lightroom Mobile before, Lightroom CC will be very familiar to you. Lightroom CC uploads your full-resolution original files to the cloud automatically. This allows you to access your full-resolution photos on multiple computers and devices, which is not the case with Lightroom Classic CC. Finally, Lightroom CC utilizes cloud-based features such as automatic key wording and enhanced search functionality thanks to Adobe Sensei integration. via: Imagingresource
