Sony today has officially announced the new FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II lens (B&H Photo Video/Adorama/Amazon). This Mark II version is built around two pairs of XD ‘Extreme Dynamic’ linear motors driving its two focus groups, rather than the mixture of linear motor and ring-type motor used in the older version. Sony promises focus is up to four times faster as a result. The US price for this lens is $2,799, you can check pre-order options at B&H Photo Video/Adorama/Amazon. The release date for this lens is in December 2021.

According to SAR, the rumored Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II lens will be officially announced soon. It could be announced along with Sony a7 IV on October 21st.
The current Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens and FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens were released in 2016. According to latest rumors, Sony is planning to update these two GM lenses in later this year.
