Lexar has unveiled its latest high-performance memory cards – the CFexpress 4.0 Type B DIAMOND Series and the CFexpress Type A GOLD Series. Both card series take advantage of the PCIe Gen 4 interface to deliver blazing fast read and write speeds.
The flagship CFexpress 4.0 Type B DIAMOND Series boasts quoted maximum write speeds of 3300 MB/s and read speeds of up to 3600 MB/s. Lexar states these cards have a sustained write speed of 3200 MB/s and support the VPG400 video performance standard. While these specifications are impressive, the highest real-world write speed currently required by CFexpress Type B compatible cameras tops out around 800 MB/s.
The CFexpress Type A GOLD Series is no slouch either, with quoted maximum read speeds of 1800 MB/s and write speeds of 1650 MB/s. Lexar seems to be the first to announce CFexpress Type A cards with these capabilities.
Lexar has not yet provided details on pricing or availability for either the DIAMOND Series or GOLD Series CFexpress cards. But with performance metrics like these, both card series will likely appeal to professional photographers and videographers needing blazing fast capture speeds when shooting high-resolution photos or high bitrate video.
