Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG Art FE Lens Review: “As Fast as Sony FE Lenses”

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art FE Lens for Sony full frame mirrorless cameras now already shipping at B&H Photo Video & Adorama.com & Amazon.com. Here are some video reviews of this new lens on Sony full frame mirrorless cameras.

Reviews from Gerald Undone (Above video):

How’s the video autofocus on this lens?

As fast as the other fast ones I’ve used. I keep my settings in the middle/balanced, and it smoothly transitions focus during video in just under a second. It goes min to max in about 1.25 seconds on average for me.

Does the continuous autofocus track like native lenses?

It is a native lens; that’s what’s new about them. Sigma’s ported them over so that they work flawlessly without the hiccups many people experienced with adapted Art lenses. So yeah, it tracks as well as any Sony lens I have. Mind you, I don’t do much in the way of exhaustive continuous AF for video. Pretty basic shots. But it feels quick and accurate to me. If you plan to do long flights with it, your mileage may vary.
